Planets always form some angle with each other. Some angles matter more than others; in astrology these special angles are called aspects.
☌︎ Conjunction · 0°
Two planets appear to sit on top of each other. (They are not really — it just looks that way from Earth.) When this happens, the two planets' energies merge and blend.
△︎ Trine · 120°
Two planets 120° apart form a trine. Planets in trine like each other and get along; the energy flows effortlessly.
□︎ Square · 90°
Two planets on two corners of a square are square to each other. Planets in square do not like each other; it is an angle of friction and discomfort — but very often the source of growth as well.
☍︎ Opposition · 180°
Two planets directly face each other. Tension, but also awareness: one extreme makes the other visible.
⚹︎ Sextile · 60°
A soft, supportive angle of opportunity. Not as automatic as a trine; it asks for a little effort.
